Let’s Celebrate Our 5th Graders!
Help us honor our amazing 5th grade students and celebrate their accomplishments before they embark on their next big adventure – middle school! We have an exciting lineup of events planned to make this milestone memorable for students, families, and friends.
5TH GRADE EVENT DETAILS
5TH GRADE PORTRAITS
Thursday, March 26
The 5th Grade Committee has arranged for a professional photographer to come to Horn and take formal portrait photographs of our 5th graders in March. These photos will be included in a special slideshow during the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony. There is no cost associated with these portraits. You will be given the opportunity to purchase digital downloads or prints of these portraits at a later date. Your child is welcome to wear an outfit of their choosing for the portrait. Mr. Hunt has granted 5th graders free dress that day. There will be parent volunteers on hand to assist the students with anything they may need – and to make sure their hair, clothes, etc. are parent approved!
The photographer recommends the following for the best portrait:
- Avoid neon colors, red, or solid white
- Consider jewel tones, blues, and greys – which photograph well
- Dress as yourself!
**Anyone who missed the portraits-taking can have their picture taken on April 6.
5TH GRADE MOMS POTLUCK SOCIAL
TUESDAY, MARCH 3
The final semester of elementary school is winding down for our 5th graders, so let’s gather and commiserate/celebrate mom-to-mom!

FRIDAY, MARCH 27
The 5th Grade Promotion Slideshow will include baby & kindergarten pictures of each student as well as the formal portraits. Click here to submit your photos.
5TH GRADE FIELD DAY
FRIDAY, MAY 8TH – 9:30AM-12:30PM
The 5th Graders have a special 5th-grade-only Field Day with extra fun games followed by a festive outdoor lunch. All parents are invited to attend, and we will need parent volunteers to help the Field Day run smoothly!
5TH GRADE CLAP OUT
FRIDAY, MAY 29TH – 2:00PM
The 5th Grade Clap Out is a fun celebration where the whole school celebrates our 5th graders. The students will parade around Horn while other grades, teachers and parents gather to cheer them on.
Students will exit the Ave B gate, parade up to and along Pine Street and then down the carpool lane to re-enter the building at the carpool doors.
- Parents should line up along the parade route along Avenue B or Pine Street
- Bring noisemakers, bubbles, signs, and anything else festive to cheer on our students!
- Free Dress approved for 5th graders (no band required)
5TH GRADE END OF YEAR PARTY
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3RD – 11:45AM-2:00PM
The 5th Graders will have a blowout party on their last full day of school at Horn Elementary! The party will take place on campus. This is a students-only party.
- 5th grade students ONLY
- Free dress approved (no band required)
- Lunch provided for all 5th graders!
5TH GRADE PROMOTION
THURSDAY, JUNE 4TH – 8:30-10:30AM
On June 4th, we will have a promotion ceremony to celebrate our children’s time at Horn and to wish them well on their next step into middle school.
- Families are welcome!
- Students arrive at regular time (7:20-7:40am) and proceed to their classrooms
- Doors open to parents & guests at 7:45. Ceremony will begin at 8:30am
- Pre-registration required for all guests! All guests must show government-issued photo identification at arrival
- A professional photographer will take a photo of each student receiving their diploma. Photos will be available for free at deezunkerphotography.com/events within 48 hours
- Please, please do not stand or raise arms/phones to film or take photos during the ceremony, as this blocks the view of others
- Our photographer will be available to take family photos after the ceremony
- Light refreshments will be provided after the ceremony on the blacktop
- Free dress approved for students (no band required) Suggested attire:
- Boys: nice pants with a dress shirt or polo
- Girls: dresses or other nice clothing (no strapless or spaghetti strap dresses, no crop tops)
5TH GRADE POOL PARTY
THURSDAY, JUNE 4TH – 3:00-5:00PM
The 5th grade graduation party continues at the Bellaire Family Aquatic Center! The pool is located at 7001 5th Street in Bellaire. Parents are invited but no siblings – this is for 5th graders only!
- Students will need to wear a swimsuit and sunscreen and bring a towel
- Parents are invited but no siblings
- Drop off and pick up required by adults!
- Students may not walk home or otherwise leave the party until picked up by an adult
- Free SnoCones and water will be provided
